Maya Daurio serves at the Secretary of The Ember Alliance. She is a research scientist at the Haub School of Environment and Natural Resources at the University of Wyoming, a volunteer with Poudre Canyon Fire Protection District, and a member of the advisory group for a Community Wildfire Defense Grant in northern Colorado. Her research explores wildfire recovery, community resilience, and the relationship between people and changing landscapes. Maya’s work has been informed by her family’s experience during the Cameron Peak Fire and subsequent flooding events. She brings expertise in community-engaged research, social-ecological systems, disaster recovery, and wildfire governance, helping bridge academic research and community-based solutions for living with fire.
