In February, a group of 15 students successfully completed the NWCG S-130/190 Basic Wildland Firefighter Training at Front Range Community College in Fort Collins. Led by a team of five experienced and passionate instructors, the course provided students with foundational knowledge in wildland fire behavior, firefighting techniques, and safety protocols. The training combined classroom instruction with hands-on exercises, preparing participants for future roles in wildland fire suppression.
Additionally, students were introduced to topics such as fire ecology, community wildfire protection plans, the wildland urban interface, and were given valuable advice and guidance to help them find jobs in fire management. This course serves as a critical first step for those pursuing careers in fire management, conservation, and public land stewardship.
